VMs are still too hard
You know, you would think with security issues popping up (well, more like for the last 30 years), it would be easier to create isolated virtual machines.
Nope.
I finally figured out how to create LXD containers that can’t access the host. It might have been easier with macvlan, but that’s for another day.
Bad Recommendations
On a different note, I don’t understand why streaming services keep showing you shows you have already watched and rated. I mean, if someone wants to rewatch something, they can go look at their history. I assume there is some data that offering users the opportunity to rewatch shows or movies increases total amount of time on platforms. But still.
Tired of all the recommendations, I’ve deleted my histories. That doesn’t help much. Then I created new profiles. A bit better but still not much variety. Instead, for services like Netflix, I’ve started visiting nextflix-codes.com to see what other categories exist. Why can’t Netflix come up with a UX for all these categories? Maybe I’m an edge case and most people are good with the existing intefaces.
Too. Much. Information
I store practically everything in DEVONThink. It’s my ‘read later’ service, notes, bookmarks, and document storage.
Right now I have over a 1,000 bookmarks to look at later. At this point, it’s hard to get motivated to triage the links.
So I’ve given me.
Well, kinda.
I’ve created a new vault called ‘Glacier’. Basically like Amazon Glacier, store and put away the files and don’t access them much at all. Actually, unless it’s an emergency, never touch it. Basically Glacier will be dumping ground for links I’ve haven’t looked at and more than likely, I never will.
We’ll have to see how long till I empty out more stuff into Glacier.
